As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme, more than 20 staff members from The Grand Millennium Dubai joined yesterday the ‘Clean Up UAE’ campaign organized by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG). Mr Peter Mansourian, General Manager of The Grand Millennium Dubai, said, “We are proud to support this fabulous cause and truly grateful to EEG for having given us the opportunity to do so. At the Grand Millennium Dubai we believe all of us have a responsibility towards protecting and preserving the environment. As a hotel we recognize the complex challenges of a growing world and strive to shrink our environmental footprint as well as fulfill our other corporate social responsibilities by supporting initiatives related to charity, community, health and safety”.

Congratulating his team for its extraordinary commitment to the Clean Up UAE drive, Mr Mansourian, said, “I would like to thank all members of our team for their outstanding contribution to this initiative. It would not have been possible without the support of Director of Human Resources Tamim Hamamah and Director of Housekeeping Mariana Paunescu who make it a true success with their dedication”.

The key objective behind the Clean Up UAE campaign is to create awareness among the local community about environmental issues with special emphasis on waste management, waste reduction and recycling.

Initially conceived in December 2002 as a collective grassroots initiative to sweep the nation clean, the Clean Up UAE campaign has successfully evolved into a nationwide event that battles against environmental degradation which is nurtured solely through volunteers participation. It is a pioneering activity that has fruitfully rallied unrelenting support from sponsors, volunteers and government agencies. The campaign aims to enhance and protect the landscape through community efforts and also to serve as a platform to raise awareness and strengthen the UAE’s commitment towards environmental protection and sustainable living.
