Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz – Malaysia’s Minister of Tourism and Culture chaired a press conference to raise awareness on the latest tourism attractions and developments along with the launch of Malaysia’s Year of Festivals (MyFEST) campaign in 2015 with the theme “Endless Celebrations” emphasizing the various festivals celebrated by Malaysia’s multicultural society. Both campaigns are key drivers towards achieving the country’s target of 36 million tourist arrivals and RM168 billion in receipts by 2020, as outlined in the Tourism NKEA (National Key Economic Area).

The minister also proudly launched Smart-I mobile app by Smart Malaysia Tourist a first-of-its-kind “smart travel companion” mobile app for tourists visiting Malaysia. Smart-I improves travellers experiences by displaying a contextual view of interesting or “off-the-beaten track” tourist spots – in addition the app highlights great deals for every tourist experience. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz – Malaysia’s Minister of Tourism and Culture said “Searching for information on mobile devices is the second most popular internet activity after emails, with over 75% of users using their mobile devices as a primary search tool. SMART-I is a service that is relevant to our modern day lifestyles, more importantly this service gives tourists and visitors to our beautiful country – access to a wealth of information and offers, which reinforces Malaysia as a stress free, friendly holiday destination”.

The app covers places of interest, accommodation, shopping, food and beverages in over 24 categories which offer in total 1,027 with an estimated value of RM250,000 that can be enjoyed by the subscribers including location maps and driving directions, directly from their mobile phones. Subscribers can also enjoy special offers and promotions from various merchants listed in the Hot Deals directory.

Moreover Minister Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz proudly launched the new Malaysia Brochure “Explore the Wonders”. The latest tourism package catering to families, gives visitors the opportunity to discover rich Malaysian culture and nature – packages include destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang and more.

Prices range from AED 3250 up to AED 3700 which include accommodation, daily breakfast and airport transfers

The app is packed with helpful features such as the list of hot tourist destinations, events calendar, currency converter, basic local language guide, important emergency details along with embassies’ contact details and the ability to use the app in multiple languages is set to transform a tourist’s travel experience to Malaysia.
