Al Bustan Rotana Dubai further strengthened its reputation as an eco-friendly luxury property by emerging as First Place in the 5-Star Category of Dubai Green Tourism Awards 2015 organized by DTCM at the Dubai World Trade Centre recently.

His Excellency Yousef Lootah, Executive Director, Tourism Development & Investments and Chairman of Dubai Green Tourism Award Programme led the distribution of the awards to the winners of different categories.

In line with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai’s vision for Dubai as a sustainable city, the Dubai Green Tourism Award was launched in 2009 to recognize those companies within the tourism sector that have demonstrated good practices when it comes to reducing the company’s carbon footprint and promoting sustainable operations and development. Al Bustan Rotana Dubai made its significant mark in this regard paving the way for the hotel to win this prestigious green accolade.

Commenting on this significant recognition, Cluster General Manager of Al Bustan Rotana Dubai and Al Murooj Rotana Dubai Hussein Hachem remarked, “Attaining first place in the 5 star category of the Dubai Green Tourism Awards is a very important award for us. Following our ISO certification last year, this is yet another manifestation of our strong commitment towards sustainable operation and the environment. We are proud to be recognized for our green efforts and we share this award to the thousands of guests who support our environmental goals.”

Adhering to international environmental standards, the renowned property competed with other remarkable five star hotels in the city and emerged on the top. The entire process entailed implementation of strict sustainable and environment-friendly initiatives across the hotel’s busy operations throughout the year requiring active involvement from the management, colleagues as well as the guests.

Muhammad Ihsanullah, Al Bustan Rotana Dubai and Al Murooj Rotana Dubai’s Cluster Director of Environment, Health & Safety commented, “Planning and executing our environmental strategies is definitely a tedious process. There are vital factors to consider and lots of groundwork to be implemented. However, being green, eco-friendly and sustainable is a main priority for us and we sincerely appreciate that our efforts are recognized by the Dubai Green Tourism Award Programme.” These initiatives were submitted as main components of the nomination, which have been evaluated and assessed by Dubai Tourism, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and Dubai Municipality based on main criteria which include environmental strategies, performance and results, education/training & awareness as well as awards & recognition.
