Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi, the newly renovated modern and chic hotel in the heart of downtown Abu Dhabi, has appointed Max Wiegerinck as their new General Manager, it was announced today.

Originally from The Netherlands, Wiegerinck spent the last ten years of his career in the United Arab Emirates. Most recently he was part of the pre-opening team at St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi as Hotel Manager since 2011.

Wiegerinck started his career in the UAE with the Jumeirah group for six years in Dubai, first at Madinat Jumeirah, and then moved to their flagship property Burj Al Arab. Prior to moving to the UAE, he explored the hospitality world through his travel and work in a variety of regions including Europe, Americas and Asia. His 20+ years of hospitality experience includes working with Ritz-Carlton, Peninsula, Inter-Continental hotels as well as with niche Food and Beverage companies such as the TasTe group in Belgium.

Wiegerinck holds a Bachelor degree in Hotel Administration with a major in Financial Management from The Hague Hotel School, one of the leading international hotel schools in the world, and is fluent in English, Dutch and German.

His multidimensional experience in the hospitality industry over the past two decades gained him an impressive perspective on the regional and international hospitality scene to match hotel services with the ever changing expectations of international clientele.

Wiegerinck commented: “I’m really excited to join Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi team. I’ve been living and working in Abu Dhabi for the past four years, and have been watching the development of this hotel, especially its impressive transformation after the recent renovation featuring brand new rooms, public areas and a variety of exciting dining destinations.

“I look forward to working with the team to firmly establish Le Royal Méridien as an urban sanctuary of world-class hospitality through valuable offerings inspired by Destination, Culture and Cuisine. Whether it’s for our business or our leisure guests, we are here to stimulate celebrations in every moment of their life,” he added.
