The excitment and glamour of endurance racing returns to Yas Marina Circuit

This weekend, the UAE’s racing fans and their families can enjoy another spectacular weekend of racing at the home of the FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX.

Friday 11th December sees the fifth edition of the Gulf 12 Hours, the most glamorous endurance race in the world, hosted at Yas Marina Circuit.

Watch as 20 cars from 12 team’s line up on the grid and go head to head on one of the world’s most challenging circuits on 11th December. In addition to old favourites returning to this iconic race, Loris Capirossi, the three-time MotoGP World Champion, will celebrate his debut in international endurance motorsport, racing a Ferrari 458 GT3 with Swiss team Kessel Racing. The Gulf 12 Hours will also see the inaugural entry to endurance racing of the Renault RS01.

Split into two rounds of six hours’ racing each, in true endurance style the race will consist of elements that run in daylight and under floodlights. The championship features a range of luxurious cars from the best GT one-make series and the super light CN2 models. For the third consecutive year, the Gulf 12 Hours will also host the final round of the Maserati Trofeo season, as well as a thrilling Maserati Parade for spectators to enjoy.

With gates open from 8am to midnight, this unique event allows fans wanting to get closer to the action than ever before the chance to meet their motor racing heroes in the open paddock session, and to wish their favourites well on the starting grid walk just before the second round begins. Exclusive Paddock Club seating will also be available for spectators this weekend.

With a ticket for Friday’s full day of events costing from AED25 per person, it’s great value for all members of the family. Yas Marina Circuit will also be hosting an array of off track entertainment for fans with children’s play areas and much more!

Key timings of Gulf 12 Hours:

9:30am: Gulf 12 Hours Part 1 starts
3:30pm: Gulf 12 Hours Part 1 ends
3.45pm: Garage views and open Paddock session (opportunity to meet the drivers)
3.50pm: Maserati Parade (on track)
4.00pm: Maserati Trofeo racing starts (40 mins)
5.15pm: Gulf 12 Hours starting grid walk for public
5.45pm: Gulf 12 Hours Part 2 starts
23:45pm: Gulf 12 Hours ends, followed by award ceremony on podium
