The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) is organising a Family Falconry Day at Qasr Al Muwaji this month to celebrate the heritage and history of the UAE.

The event, which will take place on Saturday, 8th December, will showcase the cultural practice of falconry, which enjoys a significant place in the history of the emirate and has been included on UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Visitors will be introduced to the basics of this traditional sport through workshops, demonstrations and simple training techniques and they will also have the opportunity to experience handling and feeding these majestic birds of prey.

The event will support DCT Abu Dhabi’s mandate to promote and raise awareness of the cultural treasures of Abu Dhabi by outlining the significance of falconry and its role in the history of the UAE and the wider Middle East region.

There will also be a variety of heritage kiosks offering traditional food and beverages, as well as falconry souvenirs and tools, all in a fun family atmosphere.

This event, which will run from 4pm to 9pm, will be free to attend for the public.
