The art, the story and the meticulous work that takes place during every stage of creating a Mouawad piece of jewellery, will be the heart of the brand’s vision at the upcoming Abu Dhabi Art fair.

During ‘The Mouawad Journey for crafting the extraordinary’, VIP guests will be taken on a voyage of discovery through an object recognition screen to understand the intense craftmanship that envelops the brand.

At the heart of the stand, will be one of the Masterpieces of a Dynasty the ‘Dragon’. Shimmering with an intense and fiery allure, five brilliant fancy, vivid and deep yellow diamonds take center stage among a scintillating backdrop of hundreds of brilliant white diamonds in the extraordinary Dragon suite. The pinnacle of these exceptional gems lies at the heart of the Dragon necklace, an extraordinary polished 54.21 carat round brilliant cut, fancy vivid yellow, known as the Mouawad Dragon and revered as the largest diamond of its type graded to date by the Gemological Institute of America.

In addition to the Dragon suite, will be a range of Masterpieces, High Jewelry, Flower of Eternity Collection and Vintage items for guests to browse during the 5-day art fair at Manarat Al Saadiyat, which is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Office.

Fourth generation Mouawad Co-Guardians Fred, Alain and Pascal Mouawad commented, “For more than a century, Mouawad has been crafting extraordinary jewellery and timepieces and we want to take guests on a journey to show the meticulous work that goes into every element. From the initial design sketch, to creating a 3D prototype, to the goldsmithing and then to the setting and polishing of  the finished piece; visitors will be able to experience every stage in an interactive and engaging journey.”

Guests will begin their journey in a lounge space, before moving onto a dedicated design zone, where they can explore and learn more about the design phase and the process that goes into turning a raw stone into an extraordinary piece of art. Following this, the guests will proceed through a mix of interactive and physical displays showcasing the unfinished ornaments so visitors can understand the abilities of craftsmen and the attention to detail during each step of the Mouawad process. The proceeding legacy wall will celebrate 131 years of history of the brand along with a display of the Mouawad Masterpieces. The journey ends by showcasing the art pieces in all their glory.

In addition, Mouawad has collaborated with Dubai-based, Emirati fine jewellery designer, Salama Khalfan, and their unique, one-of-a-kind item of adornment, an extraordinary headpiece set with a dazzling array of diamonds and emeralds crafted and set by the hands of master Mouawad craftsmen, will also be available to view for the first time at Abu Dhabi Art. The design is inspired by and pays tribute to the date palm tree for its special place at the heart of culture and life in the Gulf region. Over the years, Salama Khalfan’s designs have adorned Hollywood leading ladies, including Meryl Streep and Emma Stone.

The Mouawad stand will be located between Hall A and Hall S, at Abu Dhabi Art.
