Bringing together key players across the landscape industry’s value chain, the first day of Future Landscape & Public Realm Qatar has successfully ended. Held at The Intercontinental Hotel The City, Doha, this event focuses on exploring the challenges and opportunities in creating sustainable and attractive outdoor environments for Qatar with an emphasis on the development of youth and sporting facilities.

A large number of exciting presentations were delivered today among which we can mention: “Melbourne, the world’s most livable city” by Tim O’Loan from AECOM, Melbourne, Australia, “Childhood Obesity; Turning back the tide. Youth, Recreation and the Public Realm” by Simon Oxenhem, from Convic, and “Re-assigning ‘leftover space’ for leisure and sports use” by Hrvoje Cindrić, from Arup.

The response to this event was hugely positive as delegates and sponsors enjoyed the high quality of the speaker panel as well as the opportunities to network with the industry’s key decision makers. “If you are dealing with landscaping and want to connect with the industry’s stakeholder and contribute to Qatar’s public realm, you must attend!” stated the Director of EKA Group, while an architect from Qatar Foundation said that it is a “highly successful and informative event”.

Future Landscape & Public Realm Qatar – Day 1 ended with an exclusive film viewing on The Story of Eden, where attendees watched the creation of one of the world’s most remarkable projects.

Future Landscape & Public Realm Qatar – Day 2 will host speakers from Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, Public Works Authority, Qatar University, AECOM, Atkins, Cracknell, Nakheel Landscapes, OMA and Archikid Academy – Kuwait City, and will be discussing the latest updates and case studies in the landscape industry with a panel discussion not to be missed!
