Victorian Minister for Agriculture attends annual trade exhibition

The Honourable Jaala Pulford, The Victorian Minister for Agriculture, today met with leading Victorian companies participating in Gulfood 2017.

The Agriculture Minister is in Dubai as part of the State Government of Victoria’s annual trade delegation to the region. Gulfood, the world’s largest annual food and beverage exhibition, attracts some of Victoria’s finest companies each year who look to tap into the huge potential the region offers.

The UAE is the 10th largest food and fibre export destination for Victoria, accounting for AUD$ 316 million in 2015-2016. Key Victorian exports to the UAE were meat (38 per cent), horticulture (22 per cent), prepared foods (21 per cent) and dairy (7 per cent).

Welcoming the Minister to the Victorian stand at Gulfood was John Butler, Victorian Government Commissioner to the Middle East, Africa and Turkey; Arthur Spyrou, Australian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates; and ‎Gerard Seeber, Senior Trade Commissioner and Consul General, at the Australian Trade Commission – Middle East and North Africa.
