The Middle East Film and Comic Con powered by Rani for 2017, the definitive pop culture convention in the Middle East is expected to be the biggest ever for its sixth edition. Following its hugely successful fifth anniversary, MEFCC 2017 is returning at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from April 6 to 8 with a spectacular showcase of the best regional and international talent, celebrity guests, pop culture exhibitors, thrilling activities and more for a wider audience from around the world.

Over the past five years, the MEFCC phenomenon has attracted well over 200,000 fans, cosplayers, enthusiasts and industry leaders from over across the world and has inspired a new generation of artists and entrepreneurs. It has played proud host to some of the biggest stars in film and pop culture and this year MEFCC has its sights set on once again offering never-before seen content and promising the most memorable experience for fans.

“Every year, we challenge ourselves to not only deliver a better event but also continue to support the development of regional talent, and to see local artists and entrepreneurs progress is hugely rewarding,” says Benjamin Caddy, CEO of MEFCC Organisers, The Alliance LLC. “We’ve got another great lineup planned, more F&B options for fans and families and we’re hoping for a record turnout with the new travel and ticketing options too!”

Initial Guest Announcement
MEFCC are delighted to welcome and give fans the opportunity to meet another eclectic collection of guests this year including Liam Cunningham best known as Davos Seaworth in the HBO epic-fantasy series Game of Thrones, and Greg Grunberg, one of Hollywood’s busiest actors who’s appeared in Star Wars, Star Trek and is best known for his role in Heroes too.

International guests joining the celebrity lineup this year include superstar artists Simone Bianchi and James C. Muligan, Linda Le also known as “Vampy” one of the world’s top professional cosplayers, and custom toy designer J*Ryu, with more celebrities, international guests and artists to be announced over the coming weeks as well.

Activities and Special Features
Activities will once again be everywhere across the Comic Con but a few highlights include the

“Star Trek: 50 Artists. 50 Years Exhibit”, a new and exclusive traveling art exhibit, presented by Dubai TV and Film Commission and featuring Star Trek-inspired works by 50 artists, including one by Leonard Nimoy, the franchise’s iconic Spock and renowned photographer who sadly passed away in 2015.  

Also a fully sized Dodgeball court will be in the Rani Fun Zone for fans to create their own teams and compete for the (soon to be!) coveted MEFCC Dodgeball Cup with Celebrity Guest Judges Missi Pyle (Fran Stalinovskovichdavidovitchsky!) and Jamal Duff (Me’shell Jones!) from the 2004 classic Ben Stiller Comedy – Dodgeball – A true underdog story!

Fan favorites including the Splash Cosplay Competition, Top International Comics and Animation Artists, the Zoom Festival Area, HubZero Artists’ Alley, Gamezone eSports Tournaments, Panels at the Cine Club, Signings at the MBC2 Meet the Stars area, Workshops, Rani Zip Line, Retro Gaming area or Syfy Entertainment Stage also all return in force with tons of local bands and performers, artists and exclusive merchandise, activities and prizes to be won and a visitor experience that is out of this world!

Tickets are available online through Platinum List and in stores at The Toy Store, Hallmark, and UAE Exchange outlets across the UAE with a limited quantity of early bird tickets giving fans the opportunity to get their hands on the coveted 3 day passes for a special rate until sold out.
