Mall of the Emirates and Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates will ring in the festive season on Friday 7 December from 10 am at the Annual Stollen Charity Cake Sale in the South Galleria of the mall. Now in its 13th year, the highly anticipated festive family event is set to be bigger and better than ever before with the goal of selling a record amount of the festive German Cake, with proceeds from the sale going to the Emirates Red Crescent charity.

Led by Sudqi Naddaf, Executive Chef at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, a team of 12 chefs will spend weeks preparing and baking around the clock to create the largest string of stollen made to-date. With the help of a team of over 50 volunteers, the Annual Stollen Charity Cake Sale is set to be a huge success once again.

By the day of the sale, the team will have used more than 2,500 eggs, 625 kilograms of flour, 290 kilograms of raisins and 65 kilograms of marzipan to create this mouth-watering delicacy. Moreover, 133 kilograms of lemons and 142 kilograms of oranges will be zested to give the cake a burst of citrus flavour.

The sixty-centimetre-long stollen loaves can be bought whole for AED100, AED50 for half a loaf or just AED5 for a delicious slice. Pre-sales will start from 5 December at Aspen by Kempinski, the hotel’s luxury lobby lounge.

“The Annual Stollen Cake Sale has become a well-received tradition at Mall of the Emirates with our partner Kempinski Mall of the Emirates. We are delighted to provide the platform for such community initiatives and to deliver one of the most loved festive events of the year. Each year we set a new challenge to raise more for charity than ever before and we hope to achieve a fundraising record to support the Emirates Red Crescent charity. We applaud them for their continuous efforts and look forward to gifting a healthy sum towards their humanitarian work. We would like to thank our colleagues who volunteer their time to assist selling every last slice of cake,” said Nada Abou Saab, Marketing Director, Shopping Malls (East region), Majid Al Futtaim Properties

Slim Zaiaine, General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, adds: “The Annual Stollen Cake Sale is such a celebrated event for the hotel and one that is enriched in tradition as we commemorate 13 years this year. It brings our guests and shoppers to the mall a lot of cheer, and together with our partner, Mall of the Emirates we are really excited to deliver another exceptional event to kick off the calendar of Christmas festivities. I know Chef Sudqi and his team will be working very hard to ensure the cake is cooked with care and has all the elements to ensure it’s the biggest and tastiest Stollen cake yet.”
