The seventh edition of World Art Dubai, the region’s most accessible and affordable retail art fair, is set to commence four days of artistic displays, immersive workshops and engaging features from Wednesday April 7 at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

As the popularity of affordable art continues to gain momentum, visitors to this year’s show can enjoy work from both emerging and established talent from over 250 artists and galleries from more than 27 countries displaying over 2,000 pieces, ran under the theme ‘discovering new perspectives’.

Brand new features at this year’s show include robotic, sustainable, and fashion art installations; a collaboration with the Theatre of Digital Art; The Art of Dance; photography and art workshops for kids, as well as a special collection by Dubai Police.

“With stringent measures in place to ensure the safety of all, we’re looking forward to welcoming returning and first-time visitors to the show. As a completely inclusive event, we’re the ideal place for those who are just starting out their art collection to secure pieces they fall in love with, as well as get all the advice they need to begin,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President, Exhibitions & Events Management, DWTC. “Seasoned buyers will also be wowed with the variety on show, with pieces suitable for personal or corporate use like hotels, restaurants and more.”

Artists in the Frame
A mixture of returning and new artists will be taking part at this year’s World Art Dubai. Experts from new territories such as Israel, Malaysia and Uzbekistan will be descending on the fair to showcase their latest pieces covering a range of topics and disciplines. Returning artists from countries like France, Germany, India, Russia, UK and the USA will also be taking part ensuring visitors have the chance to see truly international collection of inspiring pieces.

Local artists are also taking centre stage with Emirati artist Mouza Al Mansoori returning once again following a hugely successful first exhibition at World Art Dubai 2020. Inspired by everyday things like music, film and nature, Mouza’s small canvases are abstract and colourful and visitors can enjoy watching her paint artwork live at her stand across the four days.

Emirati artist and Math major Amal Mohammed is exhibiting exclusively at World Art Dubai this year with her pieces that are inspired by the sea, mythical creatures, and feminine energy. Her hero piece, ‘Whirlpool’ takes its inspiration from the Emirati folklore tale, Salama’s Whirlpool, with beautiful and colourful sea creatures depicted.

First time World Art Dubai exhibitor Sara Al Harbali is bringing her unique artwork to the fair, citing herself as the first artist who introduced the spectrogram concept as an expression of spiritual art for the recitation of the Quran. Her collection of artwork depicts the verses in an audio signal format as a stunning mural, wall art and other forms of sculptural art.

Russian powerhouse Julia Smolenkova is exhibiting for the fourth time having been one of the top sellers at last year’s show. Her ‘Cities’ series of paintings see her interpretation of individual cities unique light rhythm, dynamics and colours represented on canvas with the goal to connect reality with the abstract.

Flying in from the Ukraine, OL’SVOL’D brings art and meditation together, with his work created during a meditative state. His collection ‘Tsvetnosts’ demonstrate the qualitative expansion of human consciousness and is set to wow visitors to this year’s show.

Features not to miss
With an array of brand new and popular returning features, World Art Dubai goes beyond its position as a retail fair, becoming a full day out for the entire family. Unmissable features include a collection by a group of creative minds within the Dubai Police, as well as an extended dedicated area to street art, Urban Art DXB, which will also host a live street art jam with two teams competing to win a free space at next year’s show.

Those looking to expand their art knowledge with workshops and art talks are in luck with a lengthy schedule of classes including both adult or kid photography workshops by Nikon, expert artists leading visitors through creation of their own work across a number of disciplines, pottery classes for kids by Al Jalila Children’s Centre, as well as the casual art tea talks where visitors can chat and learn from experts over tea.

Inkopia will be on hand to provide customisable pieces of digital art with their VR printing service that prints magnets with a choice of photo. AI NORN, the company behind one of the world’s leading robot artists is making its regional debut by transforming visitors photographs into art by using analysis of colours and shapes, mixing colours then replicating them with brush strokes.

For visitors who are more interested in street art, customisable urban art by established graffiti artists will be available by applying stencil overlays on canvas.

A collaboration with the revolutionary Theatre of Digital Art takes viewers on a breath-taking digital journey that combines high-end technologies with classical art and visual effects. The show will feature two incredible masterpieces, ‘Monet to Kandinsky’ and ‘The Impressionists’.

World Art Dubai 2021 will be held under stringent safety and hygiene protocols. DWTC has proven its capability to curate the safest face-to-face environment and deliver world-class events with the highest safety protocols, as evidenced by the recent edition of Gulfood, which welcomed tens of thousands of visitors with 98% of local and international attendees recording a ‘safe’ or ‘very safe’ experience.
